[Satellite TODAY 01-11-11] Iridium Communications has certified its partners’ Iridium 9602 Short Burst Data (SBD) transceiver-based devices to operate on its mobile voice and data network for emerging markets, the mobile satellite provider announced Jan. 10.
The Iridium 9602 partner devices will be able to provide solutions enabled by Iridium data connectivity for tracking assets such as cargo, ships, aircrafts and people.
Iridium 9602-based solutions partners certified for use over the Iridium global network include: Cubic Global’s solutions to track and monitor temperature and environmental conditions; Latitude Technologies’ SkyNode S100 for flight tracking and two-way data communication and messaging; Marine Instruments’ Fishing Buoy M3i to locate and monitor fish by transmitting GPS position; NAL Research’s Shout Nano for two-way satellite messaging and personal tracking; and Spidertracks’ Spider S3, an aircraft emergency location system for light aircraft and GA pilots.
