[Satellite TODAY 12-20-10] U.K. broadband satellite operator Avanti Communications signed a five-year contract with Filiago in Germany to provide broadband services via the Hylas 1 satellite, Avanti announced Dec. 17.
Filiago will use Hylas 1 service to provide upgraded Ka-band connectivity and data speeds to its satellite broadband subscriber bases in Europe. The contract has an initial value of more than $2 million.
Hylas 1, launched in November, supports commercial and enterprise customers in Europe and is supported by the European Space Agency.
