[Satellite TODAY 08-04-10] EchoStar Broadcasting Corp. will open a 77,000-square-foot data center in Cheyenne, Wyo., the company announced Aug. 3.
    The data center will be located adjacent to EchoStar’s existing satellite uplink and broadcast facility in the Cheyenne Business Park. EchoStar will use the data center for supercomputing, data storage and archiving and for collocation to third -party customers, including Dish Network. EchoStar will complete the data center by the end of 2011.
    “We chose Cheyenne due to our strong ties to the community, a business friendly tax environment, reasonably priced power, and the availability of a professional work force,” EchoStar Broadcasting Senior Vice President Jeff McSchooler said in a statement.
