[Satellite TODAY 07-16-10] Sky Perfect JSat has installed Volicon’s Observer digital logging and monitoring solution to provide a continuous log of broadcast content across more than 100 Sky Perfect channels, the company announced July 15.
The operator installed multi-channel Observer systems at its Aomi Broadcasting and Sky PerfecTVs Tokyo Media Centers. The systems provide an archive of all broadcast content that is stored for at least three months, in compliance with Japanese broadcasting regulations. Operators access the system from a Web interface that enables users to search for, retrieve, and view specific video clips quickly for media mentions.
“The Volicon Observer is a vast improvement over our former compliance recording system, in which all broadcasts were recorded onto VHS tape. Not only did the old method produce less-than-quality results, but it was highly inefficient and resulted in additional costs for VHS equipment maintenance and tape storage,” Sky Perfect JSat System Engineer Takashi Maenaka said in a statement.
