[Satellite TODAY 07-07-10] U.K. satellite operator Bentley Walker has purchased two iDirect 5IF Hubs to expand services via Eutelsat SkyLogic’s teleports in Turin and Cagliari, Italy, iDirect announced July 6.
Bentley Walker will leverage iDirect’s iDX 2.1 software to deliver a variety of network services across EMEA and South America. Bentley Walker’s network currently delivers satellite broadband to small and home office customers for core business applications including Internet, VoIP and video conferencing. The additional iDirect hubs aim to enable Bentley Walker to utilize increased bandwidth capacity on Eutelsat’s W2, W6 and W7 satellites.
The operator also will offer leased capacity to virtual network operator providers who do not own any telecommunications infrastructure.
“iDirect’s Evolution satellite hubs give us the flexibility to offer a variety of services while maximizing bandwidth efficiency – especially critical for serving capacity-restrained regions like Africa. Further, the iDX 2.1 software proved to be an obvious and seamless upgrade, giving us additional performance and scalability enhancements so we can expand our reach and target new customers,” Bentley Walker CEO Anthony Walker said in a statement.
