[Satellite TODAY 06-23-10] Iridium Communications has set up Iridium South Africa, an entity that will allow Iridium to operate, provide and sell mobile satellite services (MSS) in the country, Iridium announced June 22.
The authorization was provided by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, which regulates communications and broadcasting services.
In addition to existing partners with export operations in South Africa, Iridium anticipates opportunities for more than 200 global distribution partners to form new partnerships to deliver services in the country.
