[Satellite TODAY 05-03-10] U-blox is shipping production volumes of automotive-qualified GPS receiver chips to tier-1 car electronics suppliers of German auto manufacturers, the manufacturer announced April 30.
The shipment follows U-blox’s completion of qualification tests for its AEC-Q100-compliant GPS chips and chipsets. U-blox’s automotive-grade UBX-GPS receiver chip and Galileo-ready UBX-G5000/G0010 flash-based chipsets also completed the AEC-Q100 qualification and stress tests for integrated circuits.
The compliance certifies that AEC-Q100 chipsets are suitable for use in harsh automotive environments without additional component level qualification.
