[Satellite TODAY 04-12-10] MTN Satellite Communications signed an agreement with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, an international shipping company based in Norway, to outfit its entire fleet with broadband VSAT equipment, MTN announced April 9.
MTN will provide services such as OceanPhone calling, StreamXcel bandwidth optimization, toll-free inbound line dialing service and credit card processing. MTN said installations on the first ship have been completed with scheduled rollouts for the rest of the fleet over the next few months.
“We currently have more than 90 percent of the world’s major cruise ships under contract for our VSAT services,” said Brent Horwitz, senior vice president of MTN’s cruise and ferry business, in a statement.
Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
