[Satellite TODAY 03-22-10] Boeing has issued a multimillion dollar order to Saft for high-performance lithium-ion batteries to power Boeing’s 702B series satellite, Saft announced March 18.
The VES140 batteries will power four geostationary satellites for Intelsat, offering C- and Ku-band capacity to the Americas and Europe.
Saft designed the VES140 140 Ah cells to offer a low-weight, on-board source of power. The order is the first under Saft’s five-year long-term agreement with Boeing, announced in 2009.
