[Satellite TODAY 03-04-10] Dish Network now has more than 14 million subscribers in the United States, the company announced in its 2009 full-year financial results, issued March 1.
The U.S. pay-TV company added over 420,000 subscribers in 2009, with strong gains in the fourth quarter of about 250,000 net subscribers, to end the year with a total of 14.1 million customers.
The operator generated revenues of $11.66 billion in 2009, a slight increase from the $11.62 billion Dish Network generated in 2008.
Despite its revenue and subscriber gains, net profits were down in 2009 at $636 million from $903 million in 2008.
