[Satellite TODAY 01-14-10] Data Technology Solutions (DTS), a global satellite service provider based in Louisiana, has launched DTS Global Connect, an integrated VSAT satellite broadband offering built on iDirect’s Evolution DVB-S2 platform, for maritime markets, DTS announced Jan. 13.
    The DTS Global Connect solution combines an iDirect satellite IP router, a 24-inch Ku-band antenna, space segment and toll-quality voice into a flat-fee service plan starting at $800 per month. The service aims to provide broadband voice and data communications services to private and commercial vessel operators while allowing bandwidth to be shared among multiple vessels in a fleet to support bandwidth intensive applications, such as live video feeds.
    In a statement, DTS President Mike Guidroz said the company chose iDirect because of its “ability to do multiple beams within one single chassis, and having the ability to switch beams between networks.”
