[Satellite TODAY 10-30-09] Harmonic reported net sales to $83.9 million in its 2009 third quarter financial results, released Oct. 28. Sales in the same period in 2008 were $91.5 million.
    The company’s GAAP net income dropped from $12 million to $2.6 million in 2008 during the quarter, driven by a cautious buyer’s market in the United States.
    Despite its domestic sales decline, Harmonic saw a sequential increase in quarterly sales to its international customers, particularly in Europe. International sales provided the company with 52 percent of its revenue in the third quarter of 2009, up from 43 percent in the previous quarter and 39 percent in the 2008 third quarter.
Harmonic’s total bookings were approximately $79.9 million, down from $81.3 million in the previous quarter.
