[Satellite TODAY 09-25-09] The Thor 6 satellite will be shipped Monday to Arianespace’s launch facility in Kourou, Thales Alenia Space announced Sept. 24.
    Thor 6, built by Thales Alenia Space for Telenor Satellite Broadcasting in Norway, will launch Oct. 29 aboard an Ariane 5 rocket and be placed at 1 degree West.
    The satellite is based on the Thales Alenia Space Spacebus 4000 B2 platform and is fitted with 36 Ku-band transponders. Thor 6 aims to provide high power services over Europe for a minimum of 15 years.
