[Satellite TODAY 09-04-09] SES Astra signed a deal with Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. (TPSA) to bring its Astra2Connect satellite broadband service to Poland, SES Astra announced Sept. 3.
TPSA, majority-owned by France Telecom, already offers DTH services to customers in Poland. With Astra2Connect, TPSA will expand its service offering and also provide satellite-based broadband connections for households in regions without or with insufficient terrestrial broadband infrastructure. Astra2Connect will be offered in three different service packages with download speeds from 512 to 2,048 kilobits per second.
“With this agreement, TPSA is now the only telecommunications provider offering fast internet access everywhere in Poland. The launch of satellite-based Internet services is another example of our activities which will eventually eliminate the white spots in Poland,” Maciej Witucki, TPSA’s chairman, said in a statement.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
