[Satellite TODAY 08-24-09] Tencate Advanced Composites USA (TCAC-USA) rolled out its TC410, a next-generation cyanate resin prepreg system designed to provide satellite structure manufacturers with dimensionally stable structure materials, the company announced Aug. 21.
TC410 is in screening and qualification programs and is part of TCAC-USA’s ongoing investment in composite materials technology combined with investments in precision prepreg equipment for resin control, including its 2008 acquisition of YLA Inc.
"TC410 addresses the need for dimensional stability in optical benches, reflectors and satellite structure by utilizing a low 250°F/121°C cure temperature coupled with extremely low moisture absorption. This reduces residual stresses in composite components, which minimizes the effects of thermocycling on these components in space," said Frank Lee, TCAC-USA’s vice president of research and technology, in a statement.
