[Satellite TODAY 08-03-09] Eutelsat increased its yearly revenues by more than 7 percent to 940.5 million euros ($1.3 billion) at the end of June, compared to 877.8 million euros ($1.2 billion) in the previous year, according to the company’s year-end financial reports released July 31.
Eutelsat reduced its net debt by 4 percent to 2.3 billion euros ($3.3 billion), compared to the same stage last year.
Giuliano Berretta, Eutelsat’s CEO, hailed the company’s results. “This year’s revenue increase across our full range of activities is all the more remarkable, as the additional resources brought by new satellites were available only from the third and fourth quarters,” he said in a statement.
According to the report, HD services are becoming more of a growth driver for the operator. At the end of June, Eutelsat had 86 HD channels broadcast on its satellites, an increase of 75 percent compared to the same stage last year. Eutelsat also saw revenue growth across all of its lines of business in the year.
