[Satellite Today 07-21-09] MTN Satellite Services, a SeaMobile company, signed a multi-year capacity deal with SES Americom-New Skies for one-and-a-half transponders on the NSS-12 satellite, scheduled for launch this fall, SES announced July 20.
MTN will use the capacity to deliver broadband, mobile phone, television and other services to seagoing vessels and offshore platforms in the Indian Ocean.
“The Indian Ocean region represents a real growth opportunity for our MTN VSAT network business — both on land and at sea,” MTN CTO Richard Hadsall said in a statement.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
