[Satellite Today 07-20-09] The Measat-3a satellite has completed in-orbit testing and entered full commercial service, Measat Satellite Systems announced July 17.
Launched June 22, the satellite was handed over from Orbital Sciences Corp., its manufacturer, to Measat at the company’s primary operations center outside of Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
Measat-3a provides 24 transponders at the 91.5 degrees East orbital location, and aims to grow Measat’s DTH and high definition video distribution in the region. The Measat fleet now comprises of four satellites across three orbital locations providing satellite services to over 145 countries stretching from Australia to Nigeria.
