[Satellite Today 07-20-09] Telesat has signed a contract with International Launch Services (ILS) to deliver the Telstar 14R satellite into orbit in mid-2011, ILS announced July 17.
Telstar 14R is replacing Telstar 14/Estrela do Sul at 63 degrees West to provide service to the Americas. The satellite is under construction by Space Systems/Loral.
ILS has launched five Telesat satellites. Telesat’s Nimiq 6, scheduled for launch later this year, will be the sixth.
