Nagravision Provides Conditional Access System to Brazilian DTH Service

[Satellite Today 07-07-09] Nagravision, a subsidiary of Kudelski Group, signed a contract with Empresa Brasileira de Telecomunicações (Embratel) to supply conditional access system for Embratel’s direct-to-home (DTH) service, Via Embratel, Nagravision announced July 6.
    Embratel, which uses MPEG-4 and DVB-S2 for its delivery system, said Nagravision was instrumental in the development and integration of Embratel’s new DTH set-top box. The Nagravision conditional access system is securing the content and providing access to more than 100,000 subscribers.
    The service area covered by Via Embratel passes over and has a potential to support more than 20 million homes. Embratel said the Nagravision solution will scale with the service’s subscriber growth as needed.
