[Satellite Today 07-01-09] Vizada has launched its Inmarsat FleetBroadband 150 (FB 150), a high-speed maritime voice, IP data and SMS service, Vizada announced June 30.
The mobile satellite terminal measures 29 centimeters and is designed for smaller vessels with relatively low data requirements, including fishing boats, leisure boats and smaller merchant vessels such as tug boats.
“We have already proposed the Inmarsat FB150 service to our shipping customers, notably for smaller vessels such as tug boats, as well as fishing and leisure customers. We are targeting customers who intend to upgrade from Inmarsat Mini-M and who need to send a lot of data with global coverage. There is a great deal of demand in the maritime market for this kind of service,” Ristina Seah, a spokeswoman for Vizada’s technology partner, Jason Electronics, said in a statement.
Separately, Addvalue Technologies appointed Vizada as its first tier distributor partner for Addvalue’s Skipper 150 FleetBroadband terminal. Vizada will distribute the Addvalue maritime broadband products to its target markets.
