[Satellite Today 06-19-09] A new high throughput broadband satellite by Hughes will cost about $400 million after insurance, Hughes CEO Pradman Kaul told Satellite Today, in an interview.
Kaul said that the satellite, set to launch in the first quarter of 2012, will utilize the company’s existing infrastructure and network operating centers in order to keep the overall costs of the program low. The cost projection by Kaul is on par with analyst projections, who pinpointed the project costs at, or slightly above, $400 million.
