C-Com Satellite Systems Inc. and Thaicom PCL will cooperate to develop the mobile satellite market in Asia, C-Com announced.
C-Com’s iNetVu auto-deploying mobile satellite antenna systems will be integdrated with IPStar modems, allowing IPStar users to connect to the satellite more easily, C-Com said.
“This joint solution has been welcomed by the Asian markets and already used in various applications such as emergency communications during the Sichuan Earthquake Relief, the 2008 Olympic Games in China and by others in Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere,” Leslie Klein, president and CEO of C-Com, said in a statement.
“The joint marketing and sales effort from both companies will further strengthen the leading position of the two companies in the Asian satellite mobile application market and provide synergies to both companies in equipment provisioning and service offering for Asia’s booming satellite mobile market.”
The IPStar satellite provides coverage of the Asia-Pacific region, and the service is deployed in 12 countries. “The government and enterprise customers in many instances require mobile satellite solutions that is both cost-effective and reliable, whether it be for disaster recovery, the oil and gas industry, or for satellite newsgathering/broadcasting. Together with C-C-Com’s antenna system, we are confident that we have one of the most competitive mobile solutions available in the region,” Patompob Suwansiri, vice president of marketing, IPStar, for Thaicom, said.
