[Satellite Today 05-13-09] Digital Voice Systems Inc. (DVSI) has introduced a new multichannel vocoder chip for satellite and mobile handsets, the company announced May 12.
The AMBE-3003 vocoder chip offers three separate encoder/decoder operations to provide the capability of up to three full duplex channels and is available in two different packaging configurations: 128 pin low-profile quad flatpack and 179 pin ball grid array packages.
DVSI said the chip uses DSP technology associated with customized ASICs and has been named the preferred choice for many satellite phone systems.
