[Satellite Today 04-16-09] Taiwan Broadband Communications (TBC) selected Grass Valley to supply cable headends as part of efforts to digitalize cable in Taiwan, TBC announced April 15.  
    TBC, a cable operator with more than 700,000 subscribers, also will increase its service offering and introduce high-definition (HD) video using a range of solutions from Grass Valley. The first of the new services were deployed in March. Grass Valley also will provide TBC with Vibe encoders for compression and picture quality for standard-definition and HD markets.
     “We chose Grass Valley for this major migration due to a number of factors including the capability of the Grass Valley team to supply a turnkey system within a challenging time frame and also the efficiency and reliability of their products,” Thomas Ee, CEO of TBC, said in a statement.
