[Satellite Today 04-08-09] CET Teleport, a teleport operator based in Germany, has purchased a universal satellite hub from iDirect, in efforts to launch a pan-African DVB-S2/ACM satellite network, iDirect announced April 7.
Using Ku-band capacity on Telstar’s T11N satellite, CET said its service will launch in May and represents the first step in a long-term transfer of CET’s operations to the iDirect platform.
CET said it will begin to distribute new satellite bandwidth in Africa, targeting the South and West regions where it believes current constraints are jeopardizing rising economic and social development. The company plans to expand its investment in the iDirect platform to launch additional DVB-S2/ACM networks in the Middle East and Central Europe in the future.
