[Satellite Today 03-30-09] EADS Astrium signed a contract with PyroAlliance for supply of energetic and pyrotechnic equipment for the new production phase of Arianespace‘s Ariane 5 launch vehicles, manufacturer EADS Astrium announced March 27.
        PyroAlliance will provide more than 360 pyrotechnic items to fulfill the main operational pyrotechnic functions for 35 Ariane 5 launchers in ECA configuration. According to EADS Astrium, the first deliveries will start by the end of March and end in November 2014 with a nominal production rate of seven launchers per year.
        PyroAlliance, supported by Groupe SNPE, has signed similar contracts with Vega for the Brazilian VLS-1 launcher and said the deal with EADS is an effort to market itself as a leader in pyrotechnic supplies for launch vehicles.
