[Satellite Today 03-25-09] Talia, a supplier of satellite Internet in Africa, the Middle East and Europe, expanded its African services and enhanced a free hardware program designed to support non-profit organizations and charities, Talia announced March 23.
Talia and technology partner iDirect are expanding these services with African coverage via the Arabsat BADR-6 and Arabsat 5A satellites. In addition, Talia has secured capacity on Arabsat 5A to build pan-African communications networks.
Talia said that the charitable program, Good Works, is a way for the company to bring communications to remote workers. “Most of the people in the industry talk about communications services as a requirement of business, which is certainly true. But with expatriates, especially those stationed in countries vastly different to their home, communications are not just a business tool, but a lifeline back to friends and family,” Travis Mooney, COO of Talia, said in a statement.
