[Satellite Today 03-17-09] The U.S. subsidiary of Telecomunicaciones Bantel C.A., a satellite communications provider in Venezuela, has upgraded to the advanced Hughes HN System platform in providing Ku-band broadband services to Latin American markets, Hughes announced March 16.
    According to Hughes, Bantel is implementing the full range of HN7000S, HN7700S, and HN7740S satellite terminals for its base of vertical sector customers throughout the region.
    Bantel said that because the HN network provides it with pan-regional coverage and a direct connection to U.S. Internet points of presence, Bantel is exploring the possibility of providing video broadcasting services to enterprises, including digital signage applications.
