[Satellite Today 03-05-09] Dialog Telecom, an independent Polish telecommunications operator, has launched a new IPTV service using a video distribution network based on Scopus’ Eldorado video networking solutions, Scopus announced Mar. 4.
The network consists of the Scopus Eldorado network management system, offering redundancy and a centralized view of an entire network, the Scopus IRD-2900 series of integrated receiver/decoders, which receives satellite video feeds carrying both Polish and international content and Scopus’ UE-9000 encoders, which provide local content encoding for distribution of the video to viewers’ homes over IP.
Dialog said it chose Scopus following a pilot IPTV project that established the need for a more industrial-strength platform for encoding, multiplexing and network management.
Satlan, a systems integrator in Poland, installed Dialog’s IPTV network.
