[Satellite Today 02-06-09] Avanti Communications signed contracts with companies to supply wholesale broadband services in Spain and France, Avanti announced Feb. 4.
    Digisat Media S.A of Spain, a satellite services provider focused on helping to solve the digital divide in Spain and other parts of Europe, signed an agreement with a minimum order commitment of 100,000 euros ($129,000), but Avanti expects this deal to generate much higher volumes in Spain.
In France, Avanti signed a two-year contract with Parabolica S.A with minimum order value of 100,000 British ($144,000).
    Both companies will begin to buy Avanti’s products immediately, transferring customers to the Hylas satellite following its expected launch in 2009.
