[Satellite Today 01-15-09] France Telecom (Orange) is launching a satellite-based Internet service in France, the company announced Jan. 12.
The offer is being launched through subsidiary NordNet and means Orange now has 100 percent broadband coverage in France.
The launch of the service means it is contributing to the first action point of the ‘France Digital 2012’ plan announced by the French government in October last year which stated that every French citizen, wherever they live shall, by 2010, enjoy the right of access to broadband Internet at 35 euros per month, inclusive of the equipment needed for access.
