Mitsubishi Wins First International Launch Deal

[Satellite Today 01-13-09] Mitsubishi Heavy Industries won its first major international launch contract from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) to launch the Korea Multipurpose Satellite-3 (Kompsat-3), MHI announced Jan. 12.
    Kompsat-3 is intended to continue the collection of data provided by the Kompsat-1 and Kompsat-2 systems. Kompsat-3 can provide higher resolution images than Kompsat-1 and –2 and can provide high-resolution electro-optical images required for geographical information systems and other environmental, agricultural and oceanographic monitoring applications.
    The launch is slated to take place in Mitsubishi’s fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.
