Avanti Boosted by Pair of Contract Wins

[Satellite Today 01-12-09] Avanti Communications won two supply contracts valued at a combined $1.8 million, the company announced Jan. 9.
    Avanti will supply wholesale broadband services to the Polish company Computex Telecommunications at a minimum order value of $152000, a price equivalent to more than $3,048 per megahertz per month.
    Avanti also will supply remote broadband services in Northern Ireland to the U.K. Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment. The contract value to Avanti is $1.7 million, which covers the costs of installing and managing network infrastructure, with end user customers paying monthly subscription charges worth about $686,000 per year.
    Avanti will deploy services immediately using its rented capacity, migrating customers to its new satellite, Hylas, upon launch.
