[Satellite Today 12-31-08] Arabsat has signed a contract with Al-Jazeera to broadcast The Gulf Cup 2009 in HD, Arabsat announced Dec. 29.
The broadcast of the event, set to take place in Masqat, Amman Jan. 4-17, will cover Arab nations including those in North Africa.
Khalid Balkheyour, Arabsat president and CEO, said that the move will help Arabsat to hold on to its rank as the largest satellite operator in the region.
