[Satellite Today 12-12-08] SES New Skies has signed a multi-year capacity deal with Satlynx, a General Electric company and European provider of two-way broadband satellite communications, SES announced Dec. 12.
SES will provide Satlynx with 20 Mbps of capacity using SES’ IPsys/DVB platform on the NSS-10 satellite, located at the orbital position of 322.5 degrees East.
IPsys is a service from SES New Skies that directly connects the points of presence or customer premises of remote ISPs to the global Internet backbone via satellite.
“This was a great opportunity for us to secure scarce capacity over a key region for Satlynx,” said Christian Stetter, vice president of sales at Satlynx, “We are now able to deliver services to both our enterprise customers wanting to do business in Africa as well as ISPs who offer connectivity locally.”
