[Satellite Today 11-28-08] O3b Networks has signed a multi-year backhaul deal with Nigerian based wireless company, Galaxy Wireless Communications (Galaxy), the company announced Nov. 28.
O3B Networks said it will begin deployment of a new high capacity backhaul infrastructure for Galaxy to provide high-speed, low-cost Internet connectivity to its emerging and fast growing subscriber base in Nigeria.
    O3b Networks will support Galaxy’s G-MAXTM Broadband service, providing IP connectivity and broadband wireless solutions on its WiMAX network. This contract will enable Galaxy Wireless to deploy domestically and internationally an efficient IP backbone network, known as the G-MAXCLOUD, with initial scalable bandwidth in excess of 2 Gbps to serve fixed and mobile operators, enterprises and ISPs with an ultra low latency, web 2.0 capable Internet experience.
    O3b Networks is building a new fiber-quality, satellite-based, global Internet backbone for telecommunications operators (telcos) and Internet service providers (ISPs) in emerging markets.
