[Satellite Today 08-27-08] The RapidEye constellation is ready for launch from Baikonur Aug. 29, according to an announcement from Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL).
All five satellites, designed and built by SSTL, have been integrated with the Dnepr launch vehicle. SSTL also provided the spacecraft control center and performed spacecraft assembly, integration and test. The five microsatellites will provide imagery at 6.5-meter resolution in five spectral bands
MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) is the prime contractor. The Canadian Commercial Corp. is acting as the contracting agency between MDA and RapidEye AG.
