[Satellite News 08-06-08] Iridium‘s total revenue in the second quarter 2008 was $81.7 million, a 22 percent increase over revenues of $66.7 million in the same quarter, according to second quarter results released Aug. 6.
Second quarter earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was $25.8 million, up 28 percent from $20.2 million in the 2007 second quarter.
Iridium reported more than 280,000 subscribers at the end of June, a 38 percent increase from the end of June 2007. Iridium also claimed significant increases in voice and data usage revenues, citing an 82 percent gain in voice traffic in Asia, 50 percent in North America and 45 percent in Europe. Machine-to-machine data revenue grew 92 percent, while subscribers grew 154 percent.
