[Satellite Today – 2-11-08] A Proton Breeze M carrying the Thor 5 satellite has been launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, International Launch Services (ILS) announced Feb. 11.
Thor 5 is Telenor Satellite Broadcasting‘s first satellite in its replacement and expansion program and will operate at 1°West to deliver broadcast and interactive services across the Nordic region, Europe and the Middle East for Telenor Satellite Broadcasting of Norway.
Thor 5 is a Star 2 model built by Orbital Sciences Corp., which contracted for the launch with ILS.
