[Satellite Today – 1-7-08] Orbcomm Inc. added more than 126,000 billable subscribers in 2007, the company announced Jan. 4.
Fourth quarter 2007 net additions were about 34,000 billable subscribers, including more than 27,000 satellite subscribers and more than 6,000 terrestrial subscribers. Orbcomm added 39,000 subscribers in the 2007 third quarter.
As the end of 2007, Orbcomm’s total subscriber base was more than 351,000 units, a 56 percent increase over the end of 2006, the company said.
Orbcomm’s low-Earth orbit satellite network provides commercial wireless messaging for asset management and related operations.
