OroraTech appoints a new management team, led by Martin Langer, CEO and CTO.

German startup OroraTech has appointed Martin Langer as its new CEO. The company announced the appointment Oct. 11. OroraTech strives to continue breaking the barriers of Earth Observation (EO) by fusing predictive AI capabilities with an expanding space-based sensor network.

Langer’s appointment is part of a number of changes to OroraTech’s management board. Dr Axel Roenneke, chief commercial officer, and Viktor Gauk, chief financial officer, will also be appointed managing directors. Thomas Grübler will remain as managing director and will become OroraTech’s new chief strategy officer, focusing on the execution of strategic initiatives and international expansion of OroraTech.

OroraTech received 15 million euros ($15.91 million) in Series A funding last year, and its team has grown significantly to 90 professionals and expanded beyond its headquarters in Germany with experts based in Brazil, Canada, and Australia. Notable achievements this past year include the further expansion of its proprietary spaceborne thermal sensor network with the launch of FOREST-2 (Fire Observation and Remote Sensing Technology), alongside contracts with the Canadian and European Space Agency and the Forestry Corporation of New South Wales (FCNSW) for wildfire detection.

“OroraTech has a great reputation for supporting sustainability and an impressive footprint. This year, we have seen accelerated growth fuelled by growing customer demand and have built our strong product portfolio. I will continue to broaden and strengthen our operational capabilities to deliver and expand our market leadership around thermal-infrared intelligence. There is considerable potential and need for our technology and data intelligence worldwide,” Langer said in a statement.
