Measat Satellite Systems has signed a new capacity deal with Rock Entertainment Holdings. The company announced Nov. 2 that it will distribute Global Trekker HD via its Measat-3a satellite.

The channel joins Measat’s HD video neighborhood at 91.5 degrees East for viewers across the Asia Pacific region. The 91.5 degrees East video slot is home to the Measat-3a and Measat-3b satellites. From 91.5 degrees East, Measat supports broadcasters and DTH operators to distribute UHD, HD and SD channels to audiences across Asia, Australia, East Africa, and Eastern Europe.

“Since 2017, Measat has proudly served Rock Entertainment Holdings with its distribution of ROCK Entertainment, ROCK Extreme, ZooMoo, and Smithsonian HD channels. The addition of Global Trekker HD on Measat’s platform will further enhance the variety of our HD channel bouquet, making us the preferred satellite operator for HD channel distribution in the region,” Ganendra Selvaraj, associate vice president of Sales said in a statement.

Measat plans to add the Measat-3d satellite in 2022, which will replace Measat-3a and enhance the 91.5 degrees East video neighborhood. Airbus Defense and Space is building Measat-3d, based on the E3000 satellite platform. It will be launched by Arianespace.
