Eutelsat has inked a multi-year contract with Orange Slovensko to extend its pay-TV offering across Slovakia via the Eutelsat 16A. Orange Slovensko will use the new capacity to reach households not covered by its FTTH network.

Eutelsat 16A is located at the 16 degrees East orbital slot, which is valuable real estate for Central Europe coverage. Using the satellite, Eutelsat will deliver 38 HD and SD Orange Slovensko channels, which will be packaged with additional thematic and premium channel add-ons and sold in plans starting at 6 euros per month. The service includes  distribution of Orange Sports channels, and three seasons of Champions League soccer for the Slovakian territory.

“By launching our own Orange TV satellite service, the availability of our television services to the public will grow dramatically. The premium content offered by our television will be available to almost all Slovaks,” Orange Slovensko CEO Pavol Lančarič said in a statement.
