AsiaSat 7 Will Deliver New HD Sports Star Channel in Pakistan

Asia Satellite Telecommunications (AsiaSat) will use its AsiaSat 7 satellite to deliver “Public News,” a new HD news channel from Sports Star International of Pakistan, across the Asia-Pacific region, the operator announced July 4. AsiaSat will also offer Ku-band capacity on AsiaSat 7 for Public News’ Satellite News Gathering (SNG) services.

Sports Star currently transmits an entertainment channel, A-Plus, and Pakistan’s first women’s channel, A-Lite, on AsiaSat 7, and will use Public News to provide the region with daily news.

AsiaSat has been broadcasting in Pakistan since 1991. The country is one of AsiaSat’s most important and largest media markets, according to AsiaSat Chief Commercial Officer Barrie Woolston.
