Travelxp 4K will start delivering its programs in Ultra High Definition (Ultra-HD) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) to HD+ viewers across Germany as of Dec. 13. SES will broadcast the channel via Astra 19.2 degrees east, while MX1 will provide playout and uplink services.

The Ultra-HD HDR channel first launched on SES’ North American Ultra-HD platform nearly a year ago.

4KUniverse is also making its international debut beyond North America this week, as SES begins distribution of the Ultra-HD channel to Swisscom, a Swiss telecom company with 1.45 million television customers across the country.

Swisscom is adding 4KUniverse to its expanding Ultra-HD offering, which already includes a growing channel line-up, Video on Demand (VOD), and live sports events.

According to SES, its Ultra-HD platform in North America is experiencing unprecedented demand, as more than 30 cable and IPTV operators with a collective audience of more than 10 million subscribers have initiated trials of the solution across their networks. Several operators have already launched commercial Ultra-HD subscriber packages earlier this year.
