Hispasat has signed a new broadcast deal with a major Portuguese telco. NOS, a Portuguese telecommunications company, has inked a new multi-year DTH agreement to distribute satellite TV throughout the national territory, including its archipelagos. The deal means NOS can provide full coverage throughout Portugal. The two companies announced the deal, Dec. 4.
NOS aims to play a significant role in bridging the digital divide by guaranteeing access throughout the country. In the case of Portugal, there’s still a base of satellite television users, especially in less densely populated regions, where reception using this technology guarantees the best signal stability and quality, ensuring continuous access to vital information and entertainment, and connecting communities.
Hispasat will provide satellite capacity from its fleet at 30 degrees West to deliver these services, which includes more than 100 national and international channels. This extensive offering ensures access to a wide array of entertainment, news, and educational content for Portuguese households across the entire nation.
“Our solid audiovisual offering has relied on Hispasat as a partner for our satellite television for decades. Having the high reliability of its satellite fleet is a guarantee that we can continue to offer the best service to any customers, ensuring we deliver everything to everyone in Portugal even in the most remote areas. This collaboration is required to maintain our commitment to full national coverage, connecting our diverse communities and keeping them informed and entertained,” Joao Ferreira, Director, NOS, said in a statement.
