Azercosmos Signs New African Government Deal

Azercosmos will provide capacity that will enable satellite internet services to governmental organizations in Africa. The company announced Jan. 24, that it has signed a new deal with CommCarrier Satellite Services, a provider of satellite services in the Republic of Kenya. CommCarrier was established in 1995 as a fully licensed regional VNO telecommunications operator. The company is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with an international voice and data gateway. It was one of the first companies to launch VSAT services in the region.

As part of the agreement, governmental organizations of the Republic of Kenya will use capacity on the Azerspace-2 satellite to provide Internet services. CommCarrier will also serve its partners in the East and Central Africa region with Ku-band capacity on Azerspace-2.

“Thanks to our cooperation with Azercosmos, the capabilities of the Azerpsace-2 satellite, especially in the Central and East Africa region, this will successfully allow us to meet the growing demand of our customers,” Giri Babu, CEO, CommCarrier, said in a statement.
