Sencinet Signs 5-Year Capacity Deal With Telesat to Support Petrobras in Brazil

Satellite service provider Sencinet signed a five-year deal with Telesat for capacity on the Telstar 19 Vantage satellite to modernize and expand the Petrobras oil and gas connectivity network. Petrobras is a state-owned Brazilian multinational corporation in the oil, gas, energy industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Telstar 19 Vantage is located at 63 degrees West over Brazil. Telesat announced the deal Tuesday and said the satellite’s design helped Sencinet win the Petrobras connectivity network contract. A Ku-band spot beam will provide very high throughputs at a lower cost-per-bit in the Brazilian Pre-salt oil region, where the greatest concentration of Petrobras’ data traffic occurs. A wide regional Ku-beam will also connect refineries and other enterprise locations throughout the country.
