European satellite operator Telespazio contracted Israel’s Gilat Satellite Networks to supply enterprise connectivity and thousands of VSAT terminals for an organization described as, “Brazil’s largest private sector energy company.” While the March 10 announcement of the deal did not name the customer, Enel is currently the largest private company in the Brazilian energy sector.

Gilat will provide its SkyEdge II-c platform to Telespazio’s energy customer, providing remote energy facilities with enterprise cloud services and the ability to prioritize critical applications. Telespazio Brazil CEO Marzio Laurenti said that the company chose Gilat due to its ability to meet its customer’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.

“Telespazio trusts Gilat’s reliable multi-service platform as we extend our current networks to broaden our support to the enterprise sector, following service to other enterprise sectors such as banking, retail, SMEs, and large telco carriers. We are most satisfied with the advantage of the seamless integration between our network and the end-customer’s network, that was made possible, due to Gilat’s robust IP routing capabilities,” Laurenti said in a statement,

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
